JOURNEYS THROUGH UTOPIA
FOREWORD

What would you do if you were God?
I know some people would consider this a sacriligious question, but I've been told I'm going to hell over Grouse-on-a-Stick, so I have nothing to lose.
But the topic did come up one day in a conversation with a friend.
I do believe in the old saving that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.  However, in order for a vision to be corrupted, it must become something different than what it was originally.  A selfless vision would be corrupted by becoming selfish.  A selfish vision would become selfless.
I've never really believed that a divine being would hold to any form of human morality.  Personally, if I had supreme power over the world, I'd use it as a source of cheap entertainment.  As I put it that day, I'd make the world more interesting.
I won't go into the details of the battle yaks, Kojiro the Kenjutsu Monkey, and the Great Karma Beast.  But on that day an idea would be born that would linger in my mind for more than a year.
     Utopia.
Everyone has their own idea of what the perfect world would be.  I do think we can all agree that the perfect world would be anything but boring, however.  Maybe it wouldn't be fun to live in a world of demon invasions, killer sword wielding primates, and a mockery of a wooly mammoth that occasionally falls out of the sky to flatten people.
But it is fun to write about.

Journeys Through Utopia is the adventures of an ordinary young man named Owen Buchanan who is thrust into this world when he moves into his new apartment.  The story is two parts comedy, one part fantasy, one part romance, and a healthy dose of self parody in the mix.  I hope you'll enjoy my excursion into this brave new world I've created.
